The annals of rap music wouldn’t be complete without a look at the performers who make it all possible – the rap performers. Many rap music typically includes one or more rappers who regularly rap about their own personal life stories, vital gatherings in their lives, or social problems they wish to make a public statement about. Rap tunes can furthermore represent romanticized or fictional themes. The sky is the limit. Two other highly popular facets of rap music that saw their accelerated growth into the American mainstream are break dancing and tagging (graffiti). Break dancers and taggers are now stars in their personal right with loyal followers and listeners throughout the world. Annual break dancing competitions are now particularly popular even in countries throughout Europe and Asia. The story of rap music can be considered relatively new, yet it is clear ly a convincing influence in today’s music world. Obviously,  the musical influence of NY City African American and Latino culture is now as pervasive globally as fast food hamburger chains.
