The Music Within

Music as  all of us  all know, is the act of relating musical notes, in the production of an audible sound. Music has been in existence since the creation of the world, which virtually most of us can’t date. Music in its real sense is the soul of life, because in our everyday life, everybody...

Are you crazy for concert and theatre tickets? Well, you’re not alone! Everyone who visits New York City is bitten by the theatre bug!

Broadway HAS got a charm that’s difficult to ignore. It’s got something that leaves you wanting for more. Whether it’s a concert, play, musical, comedy competition, or whatever – when you’re in New York, you gotta watch it!

Do you love pop, country pop, or rock pop? Are you a Shakira fan or a Madonna one? Is watching American Idols live your dream? If yes, then guys; New York is your destination and concert and theatre tickets are your way to fulfill those sweet dreams.

This is not something new. Since ages, concert and theatre tickets have shaken the city and pushed the theatre fans into frenzy. Whether it’s a Dixie Chicks show, American Idols Live, Shakira or Madonna concert, V Festival, Panic! At the Disco, Jimmy Buffett’s live party, Pearl Jam concert, Rascal Flatts, or The Who – the New York City has it all.

What’s the common feature of these concerts? They are all sold out shows! The tickets of these shows vanish faster than the speed of lightning! But, isn’t there an extraordinary thrill in watching a sold-out show? There is! And how about getting tickets right at your doorstep, without you having to step out of your home? Ooh la la!

Well, there are many trustworthy ticketing services that have sources at their command that can arrange for some good seats for you, even when the house is running full. This is no joke! This is the latest trend of New York City. Or you can say, this is the ‘in’ thing that every Broadway fan knows about and prefers to go for.

Then there is the ever popular internet that offers you premium concert and theater tickets. They might be a bit expensive. But, who counts the dollars when it’s Madonna performing live!

Do you know that New York City has about 40 genuine theatres? Besides, there are several other theatres that are known as Off Broadway as well as Off-Off Broadway theatres. These have lesser seating capacity than Broadway theatres. The Off-Broadway theatres can seat up to 100 people.

Here’s a list of shows running at some of the best theatres of New York:
Avenue Q – it opened in July 2003 and is showing at John Golden Theatre.
The Phantom of the Opera – it first opened way back in 1988 and again in January 2006, giving its 7,486th performance. This longest running show is at Majestic Theatre.

Beauty and the Beast – it opened in April 1994 and is showing at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Jersey Boys – it opened in November, 2005 and is running at Broadway Theatre.
The Color Purple – it opened in December, 2005 and is running at Broadway Theatre.
Mamma Mia – it opened in October, 2001 and is running at Winter Garden Theatre. This show has broken every record at British box office since it opened in April, 1999 at the Prince Edward Theatre in London.

There is always something going on in Aspen,
Colorado and the Aspen nightlife is very active.
You can find a wide variety of things to do – but
if you want a little culture, you should definitely
find out what events are planned at the Harris
Concert Hall.

At the Harris Concert Hall, you will find
everything from Piano Recitals to Rock-n-Roll
Concerts. Events are planned well in advance,
so you should be able to find out what concerts
and events are scheduled to coincide with your
Aspen vacation.

The Harris Concert Hall is located in the West
end of Aspen, in a quaint residential
neighborhood. Due to parking and traffic
problems, you should strongly consider
walking to the concert hall. It is a short ten
minute walk from the downtown area. Other
transportation options include biking or taking
the bus. When there are events at the concert,
it is very difficult to find parking.

The Aspen Music Festival and School were
founded in 1949 by Walter and Elizabeth
Paepcke from Chicago. Many music
professionals train here and all of the school
and festival performances take place in the
Harris Concert Hall, which seats over 2000
people.

You should definitely try to visit Aspen during
the Music Festival. This takes place over a nine
week period in the summer, and there are
usually more than 200 planned events. People
from all over the world come to the Aspen
Music Festival, so be sure that you make your
plans and reservations early!

Another exciting event that takes place at the
Harris Concert Hall is the Aspen Film Festival.
This festival takes place three times each year.
The Aspen Shortsfest is held in the Spring. The
Aspen Filmfest is held during the Fall, and the
Aspen Academy Screenings are held during the
Winter. Again, people come from all over the
world for these events, so make your plans
early.

The Harris Concert Hall is full of history, even
though the newest section of it wasn’t built
until recently. This is a major part of Aspen’s
history and culture, and you should try to attend
at least one event at the Harris Concert Hall
while you are in Aspen. Most events take place
in the evening; however there are also events
that take place during the day. You can check
with your lodge or hotel to find out what events
are planned at the Concert Hall each day. Also
inquire about the need to purchase advance
tickets for specific events.

Concerts – Simon & Garfunkel In Central Park

In this article we’re going to review one of the most famous reunion concerts in pop history, the reunion of Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park.

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were one of the biggest singing duos in the late 60s and early 70s. To understand why this concert was so important one first needs to know about the events that led up to it.

Right after their recording of their landmark album “Bridge Over Troubled Water” Simon and Garfunkel had a huge falling out. In a nutshell, Paul Simon felt he didn’t get the credit he deserved for their Grammy winning title song from that album. Because Paul Simon actually wrote the tune he felt that he should be the one identified with it. But because of Art Garfunkel’s incredible vocals Paul Simon was always overshadowed even though he was the creative force behind the duo’s success. This became quite evident after their breakup when Garfunkel’s music career fizzled and Simon’s took off.

There was a period of time when people felt these two would never speak to each other again. It was more than ten years after their breakup that Paul Simon finally approached Art Garfunkel and asked him if he would consider getting together to do a concert in Central Park in New York City. Quite honestly, Simon never expected Garfunkel to agree but he did. The rest is history. So on September 19, 1981, Simon and Garfunkel played together for the first time in over 10 years in front of more than 500,000 people in Central Park. This is more people than attended Woodstock, just so you understand the significance of this event.

The duo had a pretty decent backing band as well. They had Steve Gadd and Grady Tate on drums, David Brown and Pete Carr on guitars, Anthony Jackson on bass, Richard Tee on keyboards, Rob Mounsey on synthesizers, John Gatchell and John Eckert on trumpets and Dave Tofani and Gerry Niewood on saxophones. This tight bunch of musicians put on a performance that for those in attendance will never be forgotten.

The truth is, anything these two would have sang together would have been a treat but the highlights were nothing short of the best these two had to offer. The concert started with one of their greatest songs and Grammy winner, “Mrs. Robinson.” Two songs later they came through with “America” which got an ovation that had to be heard in New Jersey. Other highlights included “Homeward Bound”, “The Sounds Of Silence”, “American Tune”, a solo Simon effort from 1973, “The Boxer” and of course the great “Bridge Over Troubled Water” which swept the Grammy awards show broadcast in 1971. Simon also did a few more of his solo efforts including “Still Crazy After All These Years”, “Late In The Evening”, “Kodachrome”, “Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover,” and “Slip Slidin Away.”

For 500,000 people it was a once in a lifetime experience. Simon and Garfunkel were back together again…at least for one glorious day.

Find Hannah Montana Concert Tickets Now!

Hannah Montana Concert Tickets? Sold Out! And your teen’s gone into drama queen mode? Read on for some key tips on how to snag those hot tickets – maybe even a backstage pass package to boot and keep your sanity while you’re at it!

Radio Contests

Can be time consuming, but why not let that teen put in some sweat equity to gain those tickets? Let them put that phone use to good use! Contact all the local stations and ask if they’ve got a promo/contest coming up for those hot tickets. Get the particulars on how their contest will be conducted and program in the phone numbers or post them boldly where you’ll be calling from. Often these type giveaways will include perks like limo service, backstage passes, invitation only autograph sessions, etc.

Ebay and Auction Sites

If you’re not turned off by a possible bidding war, have the nerves and time to invest in keeping tabs on the proceedings, this can be a worthwhile effort. Got the nerve, but not the time – consider using a proxy service to keep bidding for you.

TIP: Search for a misspelling of the artist’s name and you’ll find the listings with much lower competition.

TIP2: Decide on the most you’re willing to spend then wait until 20 seconds before the auction ends to place it – won’t leave time for anyone else to counter. If you have a slower internet connection, increase the time so you’re sure your bid is received before the auction closes.

Secondary Event Ticket Sites

The best option and my personal favorite sources to find Hannah Montana Concert Tickets are just clicks away (see below)!

Secondary Event Ticket sites carry large inventories of premium to general admission tickets for the hot demand concerts (i.e. Hannah Montana Concert), sporting events, theater productions and other entertainment events. Even TV show taping tickets can be had. Compared to other options, generally speaking, Secondary Event Ticket Sites (at least my favorite picks) stand out for best selection, competitive pricing, variety of payment options, quicker delivery and more reliable service.

The bottom line they’ve got the tickets everyone wants… music concerts, Bowl Games, any major league sporting event including MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, Rodeo, Nascar and everything in between can be found. Theater, New York, Broadway and even Las Vegas Shows are among the stash. One even has sweet package deals too rich to describe here.

Inventory and availability can change rapidly so be persistent about checking back to catch those “just arrived” primo tickets.

TIP: Sign up on each site’s Want List or Alert Section, plug in your Wish list. You’ll get tipped off ASAP when something comes available.

Nightclub & Concert Photography – How to Do It

Posted by Concert Venues | Posted in Concert Venues | Posted on 11-03-2009

Nightclub Photography

All of the World’s best nightclubs and lounges have one thing in common. They all hire top-notch nightclub photographers to document what goes on at their venues. Nightclub photography is the ultimate form of marketing for a venue or nightclub promoter. Flyers can only tell potential customers so much about an event. But if these same customers can see vivid, high-end photos of a packed club filled with beautiful happy party people, potential customers have a much easier time deciding where to go..

People Are Vain

On top of the basic advertising benefit, nightclubs with a “Paparazzi” type atmosphere attract a lot of attention. If a club can make it’s customers feel like rockstars and models, even if they aren’t, they’ll be bringing in rockstar type bar sales too. It feeds into that “VIP” atmosphere. This is a huge incentive for nightclubs & lounges to hire competent nightlife photographers. There is a growing demand for photographers who have skill capturing nightlife events. It’s a great job opportunity for photographers looking to make some extra income on nights and weekends.

Concert Photography

When big name bands or hip hop acts come into town, guess who gets a front row seat every time? Concert photographers do. Magazines, Record Labels, and PR firms always need great shots of bands during concerts. The challenges of low-light concert photography are not always covered in photo classes or books. It’s a form of photography whose techniques can sometimes be wrapped in mystery.

TIPS FOR NIGHTCLUB & CONCERT PHOTOGRAPHY

* Use camera lenses that excel in capturing low light, with an aperture of f2.8 or bigger.
* Use longer shutter speeds, from 1/60 a second up to 1.0 second. This captures the ambient lighting.
* Use a flash if allowed. Try setting the flash to “2nd Curtain Sync” mode to freeze action better.
* If you can’t use a flash, set higher ISO settings and reduce noise in post processing
* Take shots of couples, the whole crowd, the ambient lighting of the venue, and performers.
* Use many different angles. This keeps the photo gallery action/excitement level high.
* Take photos of the hottest people at the club. Regular people are attracted to beautiful people. Sad but true.
* Add some contrast and sharpening in post processing to make photos pop.

Once you have a good solid portfolio of work, start shopping yourself around to nightclubs, bands, record labels, magazines, newspapers, etc. It’s easier to get press pass credentials and get the best seats in the house if you’re working for a big company.

It’s also beneficial to start a photography blog if you don’t already have one. Use this to showcase your best work and write reviews about each party & concert you work at. This will help drive search traffic to your nightlife photography blog, which can result in more people seeing your work and more chances to get hired for events.

Free Music Concerts On the 101

The 101 is one of the most interesting and useful features of the DIRECTV satellite TV service. This channel has been included in the service since 2000 and has consistently introduced new artists to the public. Back then, The 101 was a continual showing of various concerts, and is a part of every package on DIRECTV. While several original shows have been added since 2005, The 101 still features a good number of free concerts for subscribers to enjoy.

One of the more interesting things about the free concerts on The 101 has to be the lesser-known acts. Take, for example, the Automatic Automatic concert. Automatic Automatic is a four-piece Welsh band that has an eclectic “electro-disco-metal-rock” sound. They are known for energetic live shows, and The 101 allows you to watch them from the comfort of your own home. Another example of this is Mando Diao. This Indie band from Sweden can also be seen in concert on The 101. If neither of these types of music is your thing, you might like The Oohlas, a psychedelic/alternative trio, also shown in concert, for free on The 101. Other unique and hard to find artists include a pianist and songwriter from America’s heartland, Jon McLaughlin.

There are also several big name headliners to be found featured in the free concerts on The 101. While these fall into many different genres, you can always count on a good Country Music concert like Sawyer Brown, Trace Adkins, Gretchen Wilson, and Gary Allan. If you’re not into Country Music, don’t worry. There is plenty of rock and pop lined up on the free channel as well. The ever so popular power pop band that put Stillwater on the map, the All-American Rejects, is featured. Heart, one of the legendary rock bands, can be seen for free in concert, as well. The 101 has even featured the legendary alternative band REM in concert, performing in Dublin, Ireland.

Other free concerts on The 101 have included, or will include, Earl Thomas Conley, Bowling for Soup, Ian Moore, Ozomatli, Rocco Deluca, The Bravery, nad Marc Broussard. Truly, This free channel is the best place to find concerts for free. Whether you want to experience your favorite band or artist in concert from the comfort of your own living room, or whether you want to explore some different sorts of music, the free concerts on The 101 are the best way to do it.

Concert Stages and Bleachers in Demand

Posted by Concert Venues | Posted in Concert Venues | Posted on 07-03-2009

Let’s face it, not every major concert, sports or corporate event can be easily handled by a company’s staff. Organizing such events with a large volume of audiences expected to attend often proves to be a tough challenge especially when they venue is in areas outside of that company’s home base. But thanks to some business oriented people with creative minds, they have come up with solutions to problems of event organizers notably concerning stages and bleachers.

The Stage:

Concerts especially by popular artists, sports events and corporate road shows are always crowd drawers. These events normally held in big and wide venues such as open fields and sports stadiums require big stages and bleachers to accommodate thousands of spectators.

For music concerts, in particular, stages need not only be wide but high as well. The wide space is to accommodate the live band and allow the artist and backup dancers to freely move around. A high stage is also necessary for security purposes notably to prevent fans from going on stage while the artist is performing.

Apart from the performers, the sound, lighting and video equipment have to be taken into consideration as well as they are vital components of any major event. They have to be provided with proper shelter to protect them from harmful elements such as rain, dust, dirt and heat. Temporary stages with roofs are most ideal for these state-of-the-art equipment.

Stages can either be the open type or with roof depending on the time of the event and of course, the weather. They need to be strong enough to hold the lighting and audio equipment needed especially when the concert or other event is held after dark.

Mobile stages are the trend today. They are ideal for various types of events and can be set up in just 30 minutes. They also come in different sizes such as those measuring 32 feet wide and 40 feet wide.

The bleacher:

Bleachers are great for both major and minor events in that they allow the audience to have a clear view of what’s going on the stage or the venue. They are ideal for golf tournaments, concerts, parades and other special as well as sport events.

While they used to be made of wood, bleachers are now made from aluminum and thus, sturdier in accommodating audiences. Depending on the event, they also come in different styles.

Mobile bleachers can seat from 180 to 300 people. They are usually portable and easy to set up. And with the latest technology, these bleachers have even become automated in that they can unfold and used right away with just a push of button.

For your concert stages and bleacher requirements, your most reliable and professional source is Brown United. Since 1958, the company has been involved various major concert tours such as those of Elton John, Garth Brooks and Billy Graham and its clients rely on John Brown’s firm for its quality service.

Apart from concerts, it also provides concert and sound stages and bleachers for sports events, television studios and permanent builders. Each year, Brown United accommodates approximately 800 events. Among its recent projects include the Pirates Premier seating and screen support, X-Games scaffolding and seating, California Philharmonic Orchestra and the NBA Jam Allstar game.

Mark Saunders is a business executive and writer who has attended numerous corporate shows and other sports and entertainment events. He suggests checking out the www.brownunited.com site for the stages, bleachers and scaffolding requirements of companies and concert producers planning to hold special events.

Concert Tickets – Buying Them Safely On eBay

Posted by Concert Venues | Posted in Concert Venues | Posted on 06-03-2009

If you are excited about attending a concert but the tickets have sold out, eBay is a great place to find concert tickets to see your favorite artist. Here are some things to be aware of when buying your tickets on eBay or anytime you are searching for online concert tickets:

1. If an auction is from a brand new seller on eBay, with no feedback ratings, that should be a red flag. You can feel much more comfortable buying from someone who has lots of positive eBay feedback. Even better is someone who has sold concert tickets before and the comments from previous buyers show that they honestly deliver on what they are promising.

2. Verify that the date on the eBay auction exactly matches up with the date and location of the concert you want to attend. What a pain to buy tickets and then find out that it is in a different location than what you expected. This might seem like an obvious thing to do, but in the excitement of bidding or buying your tickets, it can be overlooked.

3. If the concert date is occurring soon, confirm that you can get the tickets shipped to you in time. You might need to email the seller to make sure or they might have information posted on their auction if fast shipping is required.

4. Most major venues have websites, so check the seating plan of the venue against the location on the ticket to make sure you will be happy with your seats. If you are willing to settle for any seat to see your favorite artist this might not be an issue. However you can avoid disappointment if you check out the seating plan ahead of time and know exactly what you are bidding on. Although the person posting the auction might have a location chart showing where the seats are, it’s always good to double check this.

The best rule when buying concert tickets online is verify, verify, verify. Don’t cross your fingers and just hope for the best, but take the time to research the seller, and the tickets they are offering. Although you can find concert tickets in an amazing variety on eBay, by spending a little extra time you can buy in confidence and be assured that you will have a great concert experience.
