Live Music!

“Live music.” That common saying could contain some truth, but these days the word “live” is having less and less to do with music. For a lot of individuals, a deejay is their form of live music. Despite what deejay ’s would like to have you believe, musicians make excellent entertainment.
In the 1st place, individuals find pleasure in human performance. a lot of musicians like excellent athletes are multi- skill ed. They will croon on the tenor saxophone right to your soul, then turn around and chunk out a funky rhythm on a Fender Stratocaster. could a deejay performance a turntable behind his head or with his teeth? Professional musicians love to sing and groove on just about any style of music from a Frank Sinatra to Outkast. They especially find pleasure in playing when the fans is responding to their performance.
In the second place, musicians are students of the arts. Musicians do not merely “push buttons.” They’ve had years of practice in their homes, and they do their thing on stage. Un like deejay ’s musicians do not try to sing over or add other loud or strange noises to program music. Once a song begins it flows to the end and in the unfortunate get together of a power shortage musicians could continue to entertain acoustically until power is restored. Even non-professional musicians often understand “the show must go on” concept.
Finally, one of the most attractive features of bands as entertainment is the affinity betwixt them and their fans. Watching a excellent drummer is never boring because they are constant ly moving…feeling. An animated solo violinist playing an old wooden Stradivarius violin has a much greater occasion of reaching into your soul and stirring your emotions than a deejay with an array of magnetic speakers and digital amplifiers no matter how excellent his system sounds. It’s an apple trying to be an orange. It’s the difference betwixt human blood and electricity.
Contrary to popular opinion, bands may be affordable. Just like with a deejay, locating a band well in advance and securing them with a low down payment, the price may be negotiated to avoid costly or inadequate entertainment. Bands will even throw in a free cocktail hour or an extra half hour at the end to capture a date! a lot of bands are now offer ing ” deejay time.” This is when the musician hat comes off and the deejay hat is put on to performance the Techno, House, Hip-Hop, etc…Genres of today. individuals who have small parties should appreciate these characteristics of bands. Nonetheless, a lot of individuals who have large parties opt to have bands because they love the musician individual ity. In a lot of ways, musicians are the ideal entertainers.

Pop Music

Pop music is a genre of popular music distinguished from classical or art music and from folk music . The term indicates specific stylistic traits, but the genre also includes musicians working in a lot of styles such as rock, hip hop, rhythm and blues ( Rythm & Blues (R&B) ), and country, making it a flexible category. The expression “pop music” could also be used to refer to particular sub genres (within the pop music genre ) that are in some cases referred to as soft rock and pop/rock.
Characteristics as a sub genre
Pop “is designed to appeal to everyone” and ” doesn’t come from any particular place or mark off any particular taste.” In musical terms, it is essentially “conservative” in that it attempts to resonate with a large segment of its target demographic rather than pushing artistic boundaries. It’s ” offer d from on high (by record organizations, radio programmers and concert  promoters) rather than being made from below…” (Frith 2001, p.95-96). But over time, pop has gone from “popular in general” to “a genre ” described as sounding musically similar to rap, but with singing. This is due to radio stations labeling themselves as “pop stations” taking heavy prefer ence over certain sounds, tossing other popular bands who don’t fit into the sound or other categories like rock into the “alternative” label.
often used to describe the current popular genres of music of any given time, the term “pop” can’t be used describe any one particular style.
History of pop music
1930s and 1940s
Styles influencing the later development of pop include the Blues (Chicago), and Country (Tennessee)
1950s
Early Pop music musicians include Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, and Peggy Lee, but other musicians like Bill Haley and his Comets, Fats Domino and Elvis Presley become popular with the young generation.
1960s
The decade begins out with such Teen Idols such as, Johnny Tillotson, Bobby Vee, Brian Hyland, Tommy Roe, Gene Pitney, and Frankie Avalon. It explodes midway with Carole King, Neil Diamond, Burt Bacharach, Aretha Franklin, Isley Brothers, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, and Simon and Garfunkel. It may be said that The Beatles led the British Invasion in this decade.
1970s
A proliferation of new sounds from the disco of the BeeGees, the piano sounds of Billy Joel and Elton John, the country of the Eagles, the rock-influenced pop of musicians like Rod Stewart, Steely Dan, and Fleetwood Mac. ABBA was a swedish band who grew to fame after winning Eurovision Song Contest and starting a whole new revolution of pop music.
1980s
Notable highlights for pop music in the 1980s are Michael Jackson’s second Epic label release, Thriller, which went on to become the optimum -selling album of all time, and Madonna albums ” like a Virgin”, “True Blue”, ” like a Prayer” . Michael Jackson was sometimes referred to as “The King of Pop” and Madonna was named “The Queen of Pop”. Other musicians included Michael Bolton, Prince, Janet Jackson, Duran Duran, The Police, ABBA, Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, Kylie Minogue and Culture Club.
1990s and 21st century
The 1990s and 21st century were marked by a resurgence of boy band and girl group trends. From the United Kingdom (UK) came the likes of Take That, Blue, the Spice Girls, a highly successful formula. Irish boy bands of the time include Boyzone and Westlife. The America had New Edition, New kids On The Block followed by the Backstreet Boys, Hanson, girl trio Destiny’s Child and then ‘N Sync and Pop Princesses Willa Ford, Mandy Moore, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera. Canadian Avril Lavigne became popular with her album Let Go. Australia had Boys from Oz. 1999 saw the rise of the Latin explosion with Ricky Martin at the forefront with his globally smash hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca”. Other latin musicians to follow were Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, and Marc Anthony. In 2002, Justin Timberlake had critical and commercial acclaim with his “Justified” album, emerging as the new “Prince of Pop”, Jesse McCartney has emerged from Dream Street as a high-rating singer with tunes like She’s No You, Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff has become popular in the 2000s. musicians like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain and Madonna have also been highly successful. Reality TV shows, such as American Idol, begin producing multi-platinum musicians like Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken. British pop rock groups such as McFly emerge.
Sound and themes
Pop music, in whatever musical influence form it derives from, may be produced by a more basic songwriting approach and arrangement. The emphasis is often on a simple r melody, which makes the tunes more memorable, and could use stripped-down rhythms. The combination of the melody and the rhythm allows for harmony to be a driving force of the song. Themes range from individual tunes to vivacious get together jams. Nonetheless, the most common theme deals with the expansive  range of emotions which stem from physical or emotional love.
Music videos and live gigs are often used for exposure in the media, and musicians could have extravagant stage shows and use choreographed dancing. a lot of pop tunes are used in both Dance venues and Sport venue s.

Pop music is a liberal and vague category of modern music not marked by artistic considerations but by its promising fans or future market. Pop is music composed with calculated objective to influence the majority of its contemporaries.
In contrast to music that calls for education or arrangement to appreciate, a significant characteristic of pop music is that any person is able to find pleasure in it. Artistic concepts such as complex musical form and aesthetics are not a matter in the writing of pop tunes, the key aim being fans satisfaction and commercial triumph. Although the aim of pop music is to sell records and do really well in the charts, it doesn’t require expansive  acclaim or commercial success. There are bad or unsuccessful pop tunes.
Originally the term was an abbreviation of, and synonymous to, popular music, but developed around 1954 to express a particular musical category. The stylistic origins of pop music is folk, jazz, Rythm & Blues (R&B), rock and roll, traditional pop music. The typical instruments are electric guitar, bass guitar, drum kit and keyboard. The cultural origins date back to 1950’s in the America. It’s popular globally since 1960s.
The standard format of pop music is the song, often less than five minutes in length. The instrumentation could range from an orchestra to a lone singer. In spite of this expansive  choice, a standard lineup in a pop band includes a drive guitarist, a bassist, a drummer (or an electronic drum machine), a keyboardist and one or more singers, generally not themselves instrumentalists.
Pop tunes are generally conspicuous by a heavy rhythmic element, a mainstream style and traditional structure. The most common modification is strophic in form and focuses on memorable melodies, catchy hooks and the appeal of the verse-chorus-verse arrangement, with the chorus sharply contrasting the verse melodically, rhythmically and harmonically.
Lyrics in pop compositions are often simple and speak of universal experiences and feelings, moving away from incomprehensible or debatable issues. The international appeal of pop was undeniable in the new millennium, with musicians from around the world influencing the genre and local/regional variants merging with the mainstream. As of 2008, pop music is now currently the most popular style of music of youth culture, making competition with hip hop, dance and country.

The knowledge and practice available here would fee a lot of times the purchase price ($24.95) in individual lessons. Included in the price are free lifetime upgrades and a 30 day resources -back guarantee.

Purchase and installation are both a snap. The entire process takes no more than five minutes and is virtually foolproof. So, what’s in the product? When you start the program, you could think that the product is just for kids. Well, it is excellent for kids, but it is also fun for any person that wants to learn to read music for the piano. My own bass clef reading skills fade in and out, and I actually enjoyed clicking through the lessons and “games” (review tests).
Getting Started
The basic package features a series of twenty lessons that start wonderfully simply and progress through both the treble and bass clefs. The graphics are ample and bright and simple to read. There are good sound and visual effects – enough to keep your interest up but not so much that it distracts from the point of learning the notes. The way to get started with the product is to take the tour, which explains the layout of the lessons and the “games” that are used as review tests for each of the twenty lessons. As a student progresses through each lesson, awards are given and displayed on a separate screen – excellent little reinforcers to keep you going.

The central menu is completely self-explanatory and includes a button for ” Establish Here” which leads to the “tour”, a “Lessons” button, which leads to the twenty lessons, an “Options” button (explained below) and buttons for advanced tests called the Bronze, Silver, and Gold C hall enges. It’s also possible for a “teacher” to construct “custom” lessons that operate like the other lessons. The option is in selecting the notes that are presented in the test. So, if you want your child or student to concentrate on recognizing certain notes, you could effortlessly produce exercises that contain only those notes. There is also a sound option that lets you turn on or off the sound effects that accompany parts of the program.
Extra C hall enging Exercises
The Bronze, Silver, and Gold C hall enge exercises are more note recognition tests but with the notes passing across the screen at a faster pace, undeniable ly requiring a quicker response from the user. If a student could master these, there isn’t much doubt that they know their notes.
So that’s about it! This program doesn’t balance your checkbook, manage your portfolio, or vacuum your carpet, but it never claimed to! If you want to learn to read music, or have a child that’s about to start lessons or just shows interest, this product is a excellent buy. Imagine your piano teacher’s surprise when your 5 year old shows up knowing how to read music on both the treble and bass clefs! She’ll fall off her piano bench! By the way, my son, who has been taking lessons for two years, came home from school yesterday and ASKED if he could use the Piano is Fun program! Think about that!

The Future of Internet Music

Posted by Concert Venues | Posted in Live Music Venues | Posted on 24-03-2009

To get an idea of where Internet music is headed it is vital to understand the history. Let’s think back to the time when music downloads 1st became popular. For me it was spurred in the early Napster days. Everyone was out there going crazy grabbing any and all music they could find without consequence. Then the RIAA came along and said “wait guys that’s our copyrighted content you’re downloading.” Since that time the RIAA has been fighting an uphill battle to end copyright infringement.
After the early days of Napster and peer to peer file sharing a new crop of web sites popped up offer ing legal music downloads. Even Napster went legit signing deals with major labels to offer unlimited access to their offer ings. In order to make this a reality the record industry had to come up with a way to protect their investment.
Along came digital rights management ( Digital Rights Management (DRM) ). New Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies have been used to limit access to media. In essence as long as you’re subscribed to Rhapsody for example you could download and listen to as a lot of tunes as you like. You could even performance them on your mp3 player (excluding iPod and Zune). The Digital Rights Management (DRM) kicks in by restricting the number of devices you have access from and cutting access completely when you end the subscription.
In addition, organizations chose to run their personal brand of Digital Rights Management (DRM). This means that if you own an iPod or Zune player your choices are wonderfully restricted. Apple and Microsoft do their optimum to force you into using iTunes and Zune Marketplace.
Over the last couple years things have change d quite a bit. Internet stores including Amazon and Wal-Mart signed deals with the major labels to sell Digital Rights Management (DRM) free song downloads. They key here is that you’re paying a fee for each MP3 song you download but get the music without Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions. Even iTunes has started offer ing Digital Rights Management (DRM) free downloads.
Another challenge that faces Internet media organizations is the ISP’s battle to reduce network traffic and thus reduce congestion during peak times. The lack of network infrastructure, particularly in the US, is a ample concern. Throttling traffic or charging customers for metered access as Comcast and Time Warner are currently testing could drive away customers.  all of us  no longer live in a world of text email and static Internet pages. web sites now offer rich content including streaming audio and video, social integration and an interactive  set ting for individuals to gather just as you would at your local/regional watering hole. Hopefully customers will voice their concerns and ISP’s will in turn expand their network infrastructures to allow for our ever growing bandwidth needs.
So where does this leave us? I recall mentioning excitement about the future of Internet downloads prior to my rants. Internet music web sites are looking ahead to the future. With the ability to download tunes to PC, cell phone  or other web-enabled devices you’ll have access to the latest tunes from anywhere at anytime. web sites like eMusic, Amazon MP3 and Wal-Mart Music have shown that the Digital Rights Management (DRM) free music is the way of the future. The next step will be to figure a way for web sites like Rhapsody and Napster to offer unlimited access to Digital Rights Management (DRM) free music for a monthly subscription fee. I’ll be the 1st to admit that this is no simple task but one that could prove wonderfully profitable to the music industry in this ever growing digital age.
The excitement extends beyond music as organizations like Netflix offer a large selection of movie downloads free to subscribers. We’re not talking about just watching on your PC either. With a  set top box you could download films to watch directly on your TV. Industry experts predict that within a few years you will not run to your local/regional video store to rent the latest DVD movies. Instead you’ll simply watch them anytime on demand via download. Alright so I could hear some of you saying yeah but how long do the movies take to download? I could tell you that with Netflix I could start watching about 30 seconds after the download begins. The rest of the movie downloads while I am enjoying the film.
In conclusion the future of Internet media is shining bright. Customer’s spend ing habits could endorse record labels and ISP’s accept that the future of music and movies is Internet rather than in record and video stores. The instant gratification of having access to millions of tunes or thinking of a movie and watching it a minute later is enough to make me want to stop typing. So sit back, relax and find pleasure in what the future has in store.

If you search your favorite search engine, you’ll doubtless find lots of links to Internet Meditation Music. Some of them will doubtless turn out to be red herrings – PC’s are nowhere near as clever as they think they are when it comes to locating things. But in amongst the dross, you’ll like ly find some excellent Internet meditation music.
Quite a lot of this will be available as free samples. The authors want you to buy their music and the optimum way of doing this is to give you a free sample in much the same way as you’ll often be offer ed free food samples at your local/regional supermarket.
The meditation music sample will like ly be limited in length or of a reduce d quality. It’s quite common for a sample to be about the same quality as an AM music station (if you haven’t got one of those local/regional ly, think audio recorded onto a cheap cassette tape). The incentive is that you’ll get the full compact disc  quality version when you buy the complete track. This may be a wonderfully good way to sample the variety of meditation music that’s available for download.
If you resort to illegal download web site s, be careful. In fact, since meditation is all about calmness and karma, be especially careful. The bad karma associated with downloading someone else’s work without compensating them for the resolution they’ve put in could even outweigh the risk of downloading viruses and spyware that’s often associated with unofficial downloads.
Stay safe – there’s plenty of free or cheap meditation music Internet.

The Internet music segment has now al most taken shape of a regularised industry. Although the demon of music theft is still looms large but the future seems to be bright with newer ideas. But the contentious issue of Internet music sharing is refusing to die down. Music download web sites are making there presence felt all over the Internet as more and more individuals are downloading music illegally. This has hit the music industry badly but now things are changing a little bit.
Independent researchers have found the fact that individuals who share music Internet also spend a lot on buying music legally. This further substantiates the locating of The Leading Question, a digital music research firm who found out that they spent four and a half times more on paid-for music downloads than average fans ! The fans are just crazy about tunes and gigs of their idols and go to any length to enrich their respective music collections by quality music!
If that means spend ing resources most of them are game for it and if that means downloading music that’s pirated (but free) from free music download web sites they are not averse to it either! Such is the craze of music amongst these ‘musical fanatics’ they need to carry their favorite playlist with them all the time. Here’s where the Internet music download phenomenon comes into the picture as most of the music fans carry a MP3 player or a MP3 music player integrated cell phone  that satiates there need to listen to music 24×7, for most of them it is there addiction.
They download the music from the free music download web sites or buy it from a registered web site or a portal. They are game to do just about anything to get hold of the latest chartbuster on the block or even if it is the classic Elvis or Beatles number, all one needs to do is to tap the right source. Now what’s the definition of right simply depends on the user!
